YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW

aimdigital.com.ar

A woman came up to me after Mass and said, "Håfa na klåsen gulusina ya-mo?"

Now I have heard of golondrina, but it was the first time I ever heard gulusina.  So I asked her what it meant.

She said, "Fruta pat gollai."  "Fruit or vegetables."

Curious, I looked it up in several dictionaries.  Påle' Roman says it means golosina, which is Spanish for "sweet treats," like the picture above.

Newer Chamorro dictionaries say it means sweet fruits like pineapple, watermelon, oranges.
