CHE'CHO' KARIDÅT

Driving through Humåtak, I saw Benny taking care of the grounds of San Dionisio Church.  If you want to find Benny, you look around the church.  He's always taking care of its grounds.  He's been doing it since I was stationed there first in 1990, and maybe even before that.

He does it out of pure devotion.  He'd probably not be happy I videotaped him, but he never saw me filming the whole time, and I don't think he uses the internet!

Che'cho' karidåt.  An act of charity.

This is what being Chamorro means to me.
